Moving on out!

At the end of May, we took a plunge and moved from our first married apartment in Wymount to a smaller apartment closer to campus. We will miss the 2-bedroom apartment on a quiet street next to the Provo temple. But we will not miss no A/C, the tiny kitchen, and 8 AM church. :)

We're excited to be in our new apartment. It's cheaper, nicer, and we're surrounded by awesome people our age. We also got called to be Sunday School teachers in our new ward and we're excited to do it together!

Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure - Salt Lake City!

Nick and I did our first 5K the day before my birthday, in honor of my mom for Mother's Day. It was the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Salt Lake. I was brought to tears more than once seeing so many people joining together for people they loved who had been affected by breast cancer. It was the most amazing sight. The streets were filled as far as I could see with women and their families and children and grandchildren. It's hard to put into words how amazing of an experience it was, hopefully the pictures will do it some justice!

April 2013

April was a busy month for us.. with finals, a wedding, work, church, and everything in between, we feel like we're just starting to catch up.

My new job at Vivint has been awesome. I'm working on more projects and less paperwork and really enjoy working in my new department. We went out to lunch at California Pizza Kitchen for Administrative Assistant's Appreciation Day (all the girls and the managers, haha).

Here's a little taste of the making of some recent organizational charts that I did for work... not gonna lie, writing on the windows was super fun.

I got free surprise tickets to the Jazz game when they were playing the Timberwolves to make it into the playoffs. A coworker had some tickets they weren't using and passed them along. We had pretty good seats and they won!

 

Steve and Carlie got married! Basically, I didn't take any pictures of them, but I have this really cute one of Nick. :) It was so awesome to be there for their wedding - I cried through the whole thing. I love those two!

My dad's proudest moment of his daughter was probably when we bought these:

Mike graduated with his Masters' degree from the U! I'm so proud of him, especially since he was working with a wife and baby Eliza while he finished school. What a champ!

And I may or may not have seen the Bond car, the Aston Martin Vanquish, in the parking lot at work. And it was impressive.

February and March

It's been a busy few months around here!

We watched lots of BYU basketball! Below is the most packed I've ever seen the Marriott Center, hosting #2 Gonzaga. The student section was filled shoulder-to-shoulder.

Bandwagon

I jumped on the trendy-colored-pants-bandwagon today! Nick picked them out because I don't wear a lot of color. I took way too long getting ready this morning trying to figure out what to wear with them for work... and then the thought occurred to me - are my kids going to giggle at this someday? Because I doubt this will stay in-style forever. They'll ask me what was I thinking as I show them pictures, and I'll have to say (much like a certain mother-of-mine has told me before), "It was the style! Everyone was wearing them!"

Feelin' Crafty

This cold winter has prompted a lot of spring cleaning around here. And for me, being stuck inside all winter, I've been slowly turning our little apartment into a more pretty place to live. And I'll be honest, most everything I've made in our house (besides our Boston-lettered wall hanging) has been inspired via Pinterest.

And our new favorite addition/investment to our house came from Ikea. We went to the store to get this scarf hanger:

A bed frame!! We are no longer sleeping on mattresses on the floor. There's something about building our own furniture that makes me feel like a grown-up. Definitely the best spontaneous purchase we've made in a while!

Valentine's Day / 6-month Anniversary

We decided since our 6-month anniversary wasn't that far from Valentine's day that we would celebrate them together! On our actual anniversary we added a plant to our little family, and I love it!

We exchanged gifts the night before Valentine's Day... we're really impatient. I made Nick a ticket stub journal starting with a Tangled ticket, baseball game tickets, and other events we've been to in the last two years, including our wedding invitation. He gave me loads of chocolate with a funny card and my surprise... tickets to see Cinderella by the Ballet West Company in Salt Lake the next day!

After school and work on Valentine's Day, we got all dressed up to go to the ballet. We made a stop for dinner somewhere I haven't been in years - Culver's! It's a Midwest restaurant chain with tasty burgers and amazing frozen custard.

After that, we finished the drive to Salt Lake and went to the Capitol Theatre to see the show. (What Nick didn't know was that the Ballet West company actually had its own reality show last year, and that I watched every episode - so I knew some of the dancers already.) It was so great! It was three acts (and about three hours) long, so Nick really is a saint for taking me. The stepsisters were actually huge guy dancers, which made it so funny. I love watching ballet and I'm glad this guy will stick it out with me! :)
